I had the luxury of watching this movie last evening as a reward for finishing my studies for the day. The verdict: this movie is a disappointment to me. However, Ellen Page is a commendable actress. The story line is thinner than paper thin.

The amusing part was that Juno MacGuff was highly articulate for a 16 years old holding very pragmatic views for her most unfortunate and unexpected situation, being impregnated by her best friend, Paulie Bleeker. Most girls at that age would have understandably freaked out.

She was in total control of the situation. After a failed attempt at abortion, she got occupied in her attempt to find a suitable couple to adopt her still unborn child. The nice twist was when she and the child’s father-to-be got on quickly like a house on fire.

Don’t expect any pole dancing and you can terminate any hopes of dance or artistic scenes immediately. This is a sadly way too typical “teenager got pregnant, shit now what” kinda show.

The only reasons I would agree to sit myself down for this show was

1- The writer was and might in the near future continue to be a pole dancer. This by itself was a huge acknowledgment that pole dancers are NOT bimbos. Not all anyway.

2- Being a literary student, I am caught up with the name “Juno” who, in the Greek mythology, is the wife of the chief god, Jupiter.

My consolation is, the song that the show ended with was a wonderful song that I fell in love with very quickly.

So there you have it, Juno the very unsexy movie written by a most unlikely stripper.

This is a wonderful show overflowing with difficult situations, complicated relationships and heart breaking dialogue.

Both actresses Julia Roberts and Natalie Portman have awesome facial features. This is probably one of the considerations for the actress roles bearing in mind the amount of close up shots that is required.

There were basically two main scenes of her in the strip club. Though she doesn’t do much pole dancing as far as I’m concerned, she did carried herself off very much like a stripper, all the clean yet suggestive mannerisms in basic body language.

Having been to strip clubs in Los Angeles, Tokyo and Hong Kong, I have noticed that strippers irregardless of the style and status of the club they work for have certain identifiable mannerisms.

For instance, the deliberate way that they move when they are with a customer, the angle they face the customer, the way they tease and so on.

Natalie was in true stripper fashion and I especially love the way she sat on the table in a kitty manner leaning forward to listen to Clive Owen in his feeble attempt at seduction.

And of course, the whole world celebrates the fact that she was suitably naked not once, but twice for Clive’s (sorry, not yours) viewing pleasure. Haha!

The lines in this movie are often filled with subtleties and come across as cold and calculated to me most of the time. Makes it a movie that have you hanging sometimes for the response of the other party in conversation.

As what Peter Travers from Rolling Stone would say, it is indeed a show vibrating with eroticism.

This is a really old movie and you know it the moment you see handsome and awfully young George Clooney. I especially love his lines. Simple, forceful, to the point. I like it. ,op.

There are NO pole dancing scenes (sorry!) but plenty of split second shots on the exotic dancers doing their thing. There are quite a number of them grooving at the same time.

Some half naked, some in interesting attires and one doing her shadow dance. The scene that I care most about is obviously when sizzling Salma Hayek did her hypnotic snake dance in the seedy Mexican bar.

And she did her item to a song I really love, After Dark by Tito & Tarantula. That famous whisky leg feeding scene have probably blasted many a male viewer’s mind right into outer space! Check out that kiss my own beautiful leg act too. True diva in her self obsession. haha!

Quentin Tarantino was a credible act too as a sick psycho rapist. He is wonderfully talented I must say. The rest of the movie is in its typical good old fashion choreographed ways. Bloody and too organized in its chaos actually!
